As suggested by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), the Adoption Committee will evaluate the textbooks and other materials using the selection criteria on the VDOE’s web site - http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/textbooks/review_process/evaluation_criteria.pdf

These selection criteria include correlations to Virginia’s Social Studies Standards of Learning and to a Rubric for Instructional Design and Support.

Anyone desiring to comment on the Social Studies Materials Adoption may do so at the March 9, 2017, regular meeting of the Shenandoah County School Board during the time for public comment on non-agenda items.   Susan Smith will forward all comments to members of the Social Studies Materials Adoption Committee for their consideration.

General questions about textbook adoptions should be directed to Susan M. Smith (smsmith@shenandoah.k12.va.us)  or Ms. Ebbie Linaburg, Assistant Superintendent of  Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (eklinaburg@shenandoah.k12.va.us
