Peter Muhlenberg Middle School Receives Virginia Board of
Education Excellence Award!
For the SECOND CONSECUTIVE year, PMMS received the TOP TIER of the Virginia Board of Education Excellence Award. PMMS is one of only 288 schools in the state to be recognized this year and the only school in Shenandoah County.
Only 288 schools in the state earned the Board of Education Excellence Award and Peter Muhlenberg Middle School is one of those schools. The Board of Education Excellence Award, the second-tier honor in the Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) program, is given to schools who have met all state and federal accountability benchmarks for at least two consecutive years and have made significant progress toward goals for increased student achievement and expanded educational opportunities set by Governor Kaine and the board. This award is increasingly difficult to achieve because the benchmarks escalate each year.
