Who We Are

Located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley along the I-81 corridor, Shenandoah County Public Schools has over 1,000 teaching and support staff who serve more than 5,600 students (PK-12) in ten schools: three elementary, three middle, three high, and one career and technical school.

Shenandoah County Public Schools also hosts the Massanutten Regional Governor’s School, which serves students from Shenandoah, Page, and Rockingham Counties and the City of Harrisonburg.

    SKMS 7th & 8th Grade Choir Concert

    Our Signal Knob Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Winter Choir Concert went great! Our talented students sang a variety of songs, including "Let It Grow" from the movie The Lorax, "Silent Night", and a fun "Christmas Sing-Along." Great job Mr. Szuba and everyone involved!

    Congratulations to the Strasburg football team on their 31-10 win over Poquoson in the Class 2 State Semifinals Saturday! The Rams dominated from the start to punch their return ticket to Salem for the state championship game!!

    The first semester ends in two weeks on December 19! Students are SOL testing and finishing up projects and assignments, so be sure to give them a few extra words of encouragement and support. It is also very important for students to attend school during this time unless they are sick.

    SJHS & NFMS Combined Bands' Winter Concert

    Stonewall Jackson High School and North Fork Middle School held their Combined Bands' Winter Concert Wednesday evening. After the Stonewall band opened with "Christmas Lights", the two groups of Generals combined to perform "Alpha Dog", "Creature Feature", "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?", "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Jingle Bell Rock". Great job!

    W.W. Robinson Celebrates 5th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduation

    W. W. Robinson Elementary School celebrated their fifth graders at their D.A.R.E. graduation. In a ceremony held in Central High School's Old Gym, Deputy Thompson, Sheriff Carter, and Assistant Principal Diane McLean congratulated the students on their completion of the D.A.R.E. program and encouraged them to make good choices in their lives. Great job everyone!

    Triplett Tech Hosts Career Fair

    Thank you to all of the businesses and representatives who took part in the Triplett Tech Career Fair! Hosted at the CREW building in Mt. Jackson, the Career Fair featured 46 businesses and provided Triplett Tech students, along with other CTE students in the county, the opportunity to learn about job openings and career paths in a variety of professions.

    Thank you to Chef Cross and her Culinary Arts students for preparing lunch for the participating businesses and to the CREW building for donating the space for this wonderful event that helps our students take the next steps in building a successful future! #tripletttrained #triplettproud

    We recently expanded our after-school meal program to all three high schools and partnered with KidzRec to offer snacks at each elementary school. The goal is to ensure students who stay late for activities have access to a nutritious meal before heading home.

    Strasburg Football Wins Region 2B Title

    Congratulations to the Strasburg football team on their dominating 54-7 victory over Stuarts Draft in the Region 2B final Friday! The win gives the Rams their second straight Region 2B title and state berth. It is Strasburg first time securing back-to-back regional titles and state berths since 1988.

    Following approval of a new policy by the Shenandoah County School Board, SCPS schools began instituting a bell-to-bell policy that requires all students to put away their cell phones and personal electronic communication devices, including airpods and smart watches, for the entirety of the school day.     The Edulog Parent Portal app is free to parents, caregivers, and students. It will show you what time the bus will be at your stop and the current GPS location of the bus. SHS Reindeer Relay Brings Community Together

Strasburg and Signal Knob students joined community members for the SHS Reindeer Relay. Sponsored by the Strasburg Cross Country Team and FCCLA chapter, participants ran laps at Rams Stadium as a team or as individuals and enjoyed games, hot chocolate and cookie-decorating stations. All proceeds benefited Coach Tripp Lamb and his family.

Mrs. Kiser's second-grade class at Sandy Hook Elementary School was visited by Southwest Food Excellence, which hosted a roving chef event to recognize their outstanding school-wide attendance in October. During lunch, students participated in a culinary workshop, learning about kitchen safety, reading a recipe, and creating their own dessert. Thanks to SFE staff members Jami Toman, Lauren Mayer, and Jenna Good for hosting this event at Sandy Hook!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Ashby-Lee Elementary School Veterans Day Parade! With cold temperatures pushing the parade inside, students and staff lined the hallways and waved American flag as veterans and their families paraded through the school. A special thank you to the Stonewall Jackson High School Marching Band for performing in the sunken stage throughout the duration of the parade!

Triplett Tech held its annual Thanksgiving Lunch on Thursday, where staff served the students a delicious meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and rolls prepared by Chef Cross and her Culinary Arts students.

Food Service staff served up a delicious lunch of pizza, vegetables and fruit, before walking the students through the making of Graveyard Dirt Pudding bowls for a special dessert. Students learned how to read a recipe, follow directions and enjoyed their delicious finished product,
