Who We Are

Located in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley along the I-81 corridor, Shenandoah County Public Schools has over 1,000 teaching and support staff who serve more than 5,600 students (PK-12) in ten schools: three elementary, three middle, three high, and one career and technical school.

Shenandoah County Public Schools also hosts the Massanutten Regional Governor’s School, which serves students from Shenandoah, Page, and Rockingham Counties and the City of Harrisonburg.

    Before Friday night's final home game of the season against Parry McCluer, Stonewall Jackson High School honored their seniors on the football team, golf team, cheer team and in the band. Great job Generals!

    SHS National Honor Society Welcomes 25 New Members

    Strasburg High School inducted 25 new members into the SHS National Honor Society on Friday, Sept. 19.

    In a ceremony held in the gym in front of family and friends, the new inductees were recognized for demonstrating the four pillars of NHS - Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character.

    Members of NHS, under the direction of advisers Sharon White and Samantha Crisman, are required to continue to uphold the four pillars and routinely engage in community service and assist in other activities throughout the school year.

    Congratulations to all of the new members!

    Stonewall Jackson High School and Triplett Tech graduate Sid Rubenstein is on the new Netflix culinary competition Next Gen Chef! The eight-episode series takes place at the esteemed Culinary Institute of America in New York and showcases 21 up-and-coming chefs competing for a $500,000 grand prize. Make sure to check out the show and cheer on Sid as he shows off his skills in the kitchen!

    All SCPS students are once again able to sign up for an online Shenandoah County Library account this year.     Strasburg High Wins $5K In T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights Contest For 2nd Straight Year

    Congratulations to Strasburg High School on receiving a $5,000 check from T-Mobile for the second straight year as part of their Friday Night 5G Lights contest! The check was presented during halftime of Strasburg's 41-18 win over Warren County last Friday.     SJHS & TT Grad Sid Rubenstein on Next Gen Chef

    Since graduating in 2020, Sid has worked for the N.Y.     NFMS Students Debut 5-Star Cafe

    Check out the North Fork Middle School 5 Star Cafe! This is a student-led, year-long project where students get to learn real-world skills by enacting their FCS knowledge in a school-based business. Students divide into three groups to ensure success with this: front of house, back of house, and support staff. Through this project, students are learning and applying essential skills including communication, customer service, patience, hospitality, food safety, following recipes, leadership, entrepreneurship, and budgeting. #BeAFiveStarGeneral

    Southern Campus Access Road Engineering RFP

    Shenandoah County Public Schools is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide turn-key roadway engineering services to construct an access road. View the Request for Proposal here. The successful firm shall provide an engineering study and design for the creation of an access road between Ashby-Lee Elementary School and North Fork Elementary School. The Shenandoah County School Board seeks comprehensive services that will result in construction-ready designs that comply with VDOT specifications, local or state requirements, and traffic-related requirements of the school division. A pre-bid conference will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10:00am EST at Ashby-Lee Elementary School located at 480 Stonewall Ln, Quicksburg, VA , 22847. Sealed proposals will be received no later than Wednesday October 15, 2025 at 12:30 PM local time in the School Board Finance Office at 600 N. Main St, Suite 200, Woodstock, VA 22664. Proposals submitted via the eVA online bidding system will be accepted. Emailed proposals will not be accepted.

    Cell Phone Free Education

    Following approval of a new policy by the Shenandoah County School Board, SCPS schools began instituting a bell-to-bell policy that requires all students to put away their cell phones and personal electronic communication devices, including airpods and smart watches, for the entirety of the school day.     Edulog Parent Portal App Info for Bus Riders

    The Edulog Parent Portal app is free to parents, caregivers, and students. It will show you what time the bus will be at your stop and the current GPS location of the bus. ALES 4th Graders Get Immersed In Geography Floor Maps

Fourth grade students at Ashby-Lee Elementary School recently got to experience the new geography floor maps that were purchased through a Moore Educational Trust grant submitted by Instructional Technology Resource Coach Michelle Coleman.

Aimed at providing hands-on learning experiences and fostering a deeper understanding of local and state geography, the interactive maps were a hit with the fourth graders! They used code and go robot mouses on the maps to answer review questions as they prepared for an upcoming test, blending computer science and geography into a fun experience for everyone.

Just Because Donates Keyboards

Karen Caspersen and Just Because generously donated 30 keyboards to the SCPS music departments. These portable and rechargeable keyboards will benefit students across the division as more are delivered and distributed to our schools. Their touch sensitive capabilities will allow for more expressive and dynamic musical performances, and the fact that they don't have to be plugged in to play will make it much easier for our music teachers to arrange their classrooms for students to learn and play.

Our 2nd and 5th grade students enjoyed the annual field trip to the Shenandoah County Fair. With our Middle School and High School FFA students leading the way, the elementary students got a tour of the Fair, learned about the livestock and equipment on display, and got to check out the Triplett Tech Pavilion!
