Just Because Donates Keyboards to SCPS Music Departments

Thank you so much to Karen Caspersen and Just Because for their generous donation of 30 keyboards to the SCPS music departments!

These portable and rechargeable keyboards were delivered to Strasburg High School by Matt Strosnider with Shenandoah Music, Inc. on Wednesday and will benefit students across the division as more are delivered and distributed to our schools. Their touch sensitive capabilities will allow for more expressive and dynamic musical performances, and the fact that they don't have to be plugged in to play will make it much easier for our music teachers to arrange their classrooms for students to learn and play.

    Friday Update, Aug. 29, 2025

Happy Friday! Here is your Friday Update for Aug. 29, 2025.

All schools and offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 1, for the Labor Day holiday.

September is Attendance Awareness Month. School attendance is essential to academic success. Research shows that missing as little as two days every month can have a big impact on students. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn, as well as connect to peers and their teachers. Help your students build good attendance habits and make getting to school on time every day a top priority.

Through our partnership with Varsity Tutors, their full platform is once again available to all Shenandoah County Public Schools students for free this year! Their suite of services include effective online learning resources that cover grades K-12 and offer students help with homework, prepping for a test, or learning more about subjects they’re interested in. They have Live Online Classes, On Demand 24/7 Chat Tutoring, Essay Editing, Celebrity-Led StarCourses and more. To access the Varsity Tutors platform, simply click on the Varsity Tutors tile on the SCPS Student Portal.

SKMS Art Teacher Participates in National Building Museum Project

Signal Knob Middle School Art Teacher Kristin Fiorvanti had some of her artwork on display at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. in July! Part of the exhibit "Momentum Park(our)", Ms. Fiorvanti's artwork depicts the movement and style of parkour, a sport that involves moving quickly and creatively through physical obstacles, often in an urban environment.

The exhibit was interactive and visitors explored four obstacle courses designed for different ages and skill levels, learned about the science of motion, and watched Parkour performances by professional athletes. Click here for more information.
