Monday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 4, are Professional Days. There is no school for students on either day. Parent-Teacher Conferences for Elementary and Middle School students will be held on Monday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Please contact your student’s school for more information.

Our All-County Orchestra Concert will be held tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 1) at 6 p.m. at Central High School. All SCPS families and the community are welcome to attend and support our students! See our division Events Calendar at www.shenandoah.k12.va.us/calendar for a full list of upcoming music performances.

The Virginia Department of Education will be hosting a virtual listening session from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, to gather input on cut score implementation. In September, the VDOE approved revisions to cut scores for mathematics and reading Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments. Cut scores define the minimum score a student must achieve to reach a performance level on an assessment. Parents are invited to participate in the upcoming listening session, which is aimed at providing an overview of the proposed implementation models, sharing feedback on the models, and identifying supports and resources needed by parents to help their child meet higher expectations. You can join the virtual listening session with the link below or share your input using their feedback form.

They used code and go robot mouses on the maps to answer review questions as they prepared for an upcoming test, blending computer science and geography into a fun experience for everyone.

Just Because Donates Keyboards
Just Because Donates Keyboards

Karen Caspersen and Just Because generously donated 30 keyboards to the SCPS music departments. These portable and rechargeable keyboards will benefit students across the division as more are delivered and distributed to our schools. Their touch sensitive capabilities will allow for more expressive and dynamic musical performances, and the fact that they don't have to be plugged in to play will make it much easier for our music teachers to arrange their classrooms for students to learn and play.
