Tuition Assistance

Certificated employees are eligible for two tuition reimbursement programs.

Shenandoah County Public Schools provides $400 per five year cycle for job related recertification courses.  Approval must be sought from the Director for Finance prior to enrolling in the course. Proof of payment and acceptable grades must be submitted at the completion of the course to receive reimbursement.

Tuition reimbursement is also available as follows 

  • $250 per credit hour for tuition in an approved graduate program leading to endorsement in the principalship by the Virginia Department of Education, or,

  • $250 per credit hour for tuition in an approved doctoral degree program, or,

  • $1,500 per fiscal year in an approved graduate program in an endorsable teaching area

  • $1,500 per fiscal year leading toward licensure or certification in a high needs or specialty area as determined by School Board personnel

  • $5,000 per fiscal year leading toward a credential to teach dual enrollment courses in Shenandoah County Public Schools. Only three teachers per year will be allowed to participate in this program. The program is designed by the sponsoring organization. Access to funding will be available on a first come, first served basis.
  • The maximum amount of reimbursement will be capped at $5,250 per individual each calendar year.

Employees who are accepted into this program will sign a tuition agreement form which is also on this web page. This form explains terms and conditions of participating in the program.

Classified employees are eligible to participate in the tuition program as well. Benefits for classified employees are:

  • $200 per credit hour for tuition in an approved program with a  maximum reimbursement of $1,000 annually
