The goal of the Shenandoah Education Foundation, Inc. is to raise funds to support the Shenandoah County Public School's objective to enhance student learning and achievement.  The foundation was formed to enhance educational opportunities through a student scholarship program, staff professional development support, and enrichment programs for students and staff of Shenandoah County Public schools.  The Foundation exists to expand and enhance education and enrichment programs for students and employees in the Shenandoah County Public Schools. This objective will be accomplished through scholarship and tuition assistance programs, professional development and training opportunities for employees, and extended education programs for students.

Activities

Through its scholarship program, the Shenandoah Education Foundation, Inc. plans to promote awareness of education as a positive career goal for all Shenandoah County Public School students and Shenandoah County residents.  It is the Foundation’s goal to provide financial support opportunities for Shenandoah County Public School seniors and Shenandoah County residents who have an interest in pursuing a career in the field of education.  Additionally, the Foundation aims to provide staff of the Shenandoah County Public Schools increased opportunities to attend professional development activities that will enrich the academic offerings provided to students.  One of the goals of the Foundation is to provide staff with access to funds to design and deliver enrichment activities to their peers.  The Shenandoah Education Foundation, Inc. also plans to support classroom and extension opportunities that expand the educational experiences of all Shenandoah County Public School students.

In August 2011, the Shenandoah Education Foundation presented the 2011 Shenandoah County Public Schools Teacher of the Year, Annemarie Noonan, with $2,500 to be used to benefit the students in her classroom.  It is the intent of the Foundation to provide this contribution to the SCPS Teacher of the Year on an annual basis.
